Arguably the most beautiful place in Sikkim, this gorgeous lake sits at a height of 3735 meters. About 40 kilometers away from the capital city of Gangtok, this lake is believed to be holy and has lots of myths around it. During winters this lake can be found frozen due to the snowfall there.
Yumthang Valley which is more popularly known as the valley of flowers is one of the best places to visit in Sikkim. Located close to Lachung this beautiful valley is packed with scenic beauty and snowcapped mountains. It is home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary which contains over 24 species of the state flower.
Located in Bulbuley about 3 kilometers away from the capital city is the Himalayan Zoological Park of Sikkim. At an altitude of 1780 meters, this one-of-a-kind zoo keeps animals in their natural and normal habitats. The zoo is home to various animals like the snow leopard cat, the Himalayan monal pheasant, the Himalayan black bear, the Himalayan red panda, and many more. It is truly an adventure to visit and an amazing experience.
A town and a hill station in northeast Sikkim, Lachung is blessed with flower valleys, an alluring view of the mountain peaks, rich biodiversity, and complete peace. At an elevation of 2900 meters, this beautiful town is about 125 kilometers away from Gangtok. During winter this entire place remains covered in snow and it is also a tourist favorite place in Sikkim.
Zero Point is another alluring place that brings in thousands of tourists. Further away from the Yumthang valley this place provides ample scenic views of the Himalayas while being 15 kilometers away from Lachung. The beauty, the ambiance, and the lush greenery make this place a must-see.
Sikkim itself has no airports in the state other than the Pakyong airport which is temporarily closed. The closest airport to Sikkim is the Bagdogra airport in West Bengal. One can take a cab from the Bagdogra airport to Sikkim Gangtok which takes about 5 to 6 hours to reach.
The closest railway station to Sikkim is the NJP station of West Bengal and one can take a cab to Gangtok from there.
